A brief long weekend enabled me to travel back to my favorite destination – Taiwan. And this time, I thought I had enough of Taipei already so I decided to go to the nearest next big city – Taichung. This was my first time in Taichung and I have learned that there is still no MRT running across the city. So I did my research and studied how … Continue reading Taichung in A Day
I arrived at Singapore around at 7am after several bus transfers. Our bus broke down somewhere in Johor and barely had enough sleep. Since I was meeting my friends sometime later in the afternoon, I decided to spend the first half of the day in Gardens by the Bay. Continue reading Singapore’s Ethereal Gardens
Sun Moon Lake has been the Taiwan of my dreams. Ever since I set my gaze on pictures of it some years ago – of its placid waters, it’s lofty mountain ranges at the background which are softened by the descending fog, blanketting the base – it has always been on my mind. Along its lengthy banks, rose the most beautiful and finest temples and palaces, as well commercial districts. Continue reading Bangkok’s Majestic Temples
The Tunnel of Nine Turns impressed me a lot. It is actually the old central highway which cuts through several tunnels. The side of the tunnels open up to deep gorges: the river flowing across them several hundred feet below. Looking up above are cathedral high rocks, turned into mountains, borne by the natural uplifting of earth’s crust which took several millenia to reach that high. Continue reading Taroko Drifts and Rifts
Going to Sanxia was quite difficult than I expected. From the museum, I hiked all the way towards Sanying bridge which separates the towns of Yingge and Sanxia. But when I get to the bridge, I found out it’s not walkable for pedestrians so I went back to the bus stop outside Yingge museum, waiting for luck for the correct bus to arrive. Continue reading Blood and Tombs Festival
It was sunny and very humid, typical of a Vietnamese summer. The day before that, we arrived in Hue, the old capital of Vietnam, particularly of the Nguyen dynastic rule. The rest of the day we spent exploring the old forbidden city, the imperial city. It was nearest to where we stayed. This day, since we did not have an itinerary in mind, we went … Continue reading Hue, Nguyen Country
Ever heard of that city in China which had the world’s major architectural landmarks built onto it? That’s what I thought when I heard of this French-themed resort in Bukit Tinggi, an hour drive away from Kuala Lumpur. Personally, I don’t fancy visiting themed resorts but when I saw the pictures of the people who had been there, the call is hard to resist. A … Continue reading A French Town in Malaysia?
One of the most memorable experiences in travels are those that were unplanned, rushed or unexpected. It was on another visit to Taipei and on the first day, it rained so hard that my friend and I ran out of options what to do. So, my friend suggested that we go to Jiufen.
